A youth has been arrested for allegedly threatening an actress in Kaloor, Kochi, near a tattoo shop. He had reportedly traced her location through Instagram. This incident has sparked a debate regarding the privacy of public figures and the safety of women in general.
A youth has recently been arrested for allegedly threatening an actress in Kaloor, a city in Kochi. The incident occurred on Thursday i.e. 19th March when the actress was going to get a tattoo. A complaint has been filed against the accused for threatening and intentionally touching her.
The incident occurred last Thursday near a tattoo studio at Stadium Link Road in Kaloor, Kochi. The actress had posted on Instagram that she was willing to get a tattoo. The Instagram post was used by the accused to trace her location, where she was forced not to get a tattoo and made attempts to molest her. While lodging the complaint, she also reported that the accused tried to touch her. The complaint was lodged at the Palarivattom police station, and the accused was thereafter arrested. Sources confirm that the accused arrested on friday holds an MBA degree working in an IT firm.
The police stated that immediate action was taken when the complaint was lodged. It was noted during the investigation that the accused was a fan of the actress and ran an Instagram fan channel. Her responses in the chat seemed to him as an attempt of attraction towards the actress. The actress blocked his account after finding herself uneasy with the conversations. However, the accused made a number of attempts using different accounts, after which he threatened the actress at the tattoo shop. During the investigations the police stated:
“The woman has filed a complaint alleging that the accused touched her inappropriately. Hence, an FIR has been lodged for outraging the modesty of a woman. He was presented in court on Saturday and the court granted him bail.”
Although the accused has been arrested, the case in Kochi has sparked widespread debates about the privacy of public figures and their relationships with fans. It also emphasises the broader concern about how social media can make women feel unsafe. The incident highlights how individuals who are strangers, or those with whom one is not comfortable, may attempt to pressure others through online communication or misuse personal information.
