About the Investigations

The Nashik godman used artificial artifacts and props, including snakes and tiger skins, to fool people in his office. He kept a check on their financial background and economic status and, in the name of mystery, mythical situations, and miracles, deceived people into buying local products at high costs that ranged up to lakhs.

The investigation has revealed that a captain and several political leaders were among the clients. Authorities are now establishing further connections, and the investigation is ongoing.

While the Nashik godman, identified as Ashok Kharat, has been arrested, police have traced CCTV footage and are building a strong case against him for the heinous crimes he allegedly committed.

A 28-year-old woman pursuing education after years of marriage was approached under the pretext of receiving blessings for her exams. She allegedly stated that the godman told her that if she did not meet him, he would inform her husband that she was having an affair. Reports also confirm that she was threatened that both she and her husband would be killed. She further stated that she suffered sexual assault for more than two years, after which she finally filed her complaint.

Another woman, during her seventh month of pregnancy, was assaulted and given the delusion of mantras that would assure her a male child. The plan included turning off the lights and sending her husband out. In the name of enchanted water, a woman was assaulted.

The Case of Forced Abortion

A woman who divorced after seven years of her marriage was raped and became pregnant. She was then forced to take termination pills after a promise of marriage and under the illusion of divine wrath. Reports also mention pressure and phone threats made to the victims.

Monetary Frauds

The accused charged large sums of money in the name of religion, and the products were taken from local markets.
