Pontosense Inc. is a Canadian technology company that aims to make wireless sensing and artificial intelligence solutions privacy-focused. The company develops advanced contactless sensing systems that monitor vital signs and detect changes in movement or behavior, without requiring wearables, cameras, or intrusive devices.

This Canada-based company aims to transform how humans interact with technology and change the interaction landscape altogether. Pontosense is developing sensing systems that support everyday life in homes, healthcare settings, automotive environments, and smart infrastructure, while preserving privacy, dignity, and independence.

History and Background

With a network across countries like Canada, Europe, Japan, Germany, and China, Pontosense is headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Ever since its foundation in 2021 by Alex S. Qi, Yihong Qi, and Muxin Ma, Pontosense has grown into a company with more than 100 employees. Pontosense builds sensing technologies that work quietly in the background, helping families, care teams, and technology partners detect important changes, such as falls, altered routines, vital sign anomalies, or safety risks, without intrusion.

How Pontosense Technology Works

At the core of Pontosense’s product lineup is advanced wireless sensing that uses millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar and AI algorithms to detect subtle motion and biometric signals like:

  • Breathing rate
  • Heart rate and heart-rate variability (HRV)
  • Movement patterns
  • Presence or absence of occupants

All of this is done without cameras, microphones, or wearable devices, meaning privacy is preserved while monitoring remains continuous and passive.

Pontosense in CES 2026

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Pontosense participated in the AgeTech startup showcase organized by the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP. The event highlighted companies developing technology to help older adults live safely and independently at home.

During the exhibition, Pontosense presented its privacy-first wireless sensing platform, showing how it can monitor wellbeing without using cameras or wearable devices. The company focused on its core product, the Silver Shield sensing system, which helps care providers and families detect risks and track daily health patterns in real time.

CES 2026 allowed Pontosense to connect with key partners and innovators, strengthening its role in creating practical, privacy-focused solutions for safer and smarter home living.
