Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi, is the host to the India Open Badminton, and there’s so much chaos which has led to halts in games. Bird poop falling on the court, to Monkey sitting in the stadium chairs, India is facing embarrassment and backlash across the globe.

The Bird Poop Controversy

The clash between HS Prannoy and Loh Kean Yew faced two stoppages due to “Bird Poop” falling on the court mid-game. The play was first halted when HS Prannoy was leading the game by 16-14. Then the play was again halted in the decider game, where Prannoy was leading 1-0. In the video, it can be clearly seen that the foreign player was totally disgusted with the happenings on the court.

In the other incident, A monkey entered the stadium and sat with the audience to watch the game. This may sound like a funny incident, but it has raised many concerns serious concerns about infrastructure planning and safety protocols.

Comments of the Denmark Player

A player from Denmark, Mia Blichfeldt, who is currently competing in the India Open Badminton, has made some serious remarks on the facilities and the environment. She also highlighted the bird poop incidents constantly happening, calling it really unhealthy and not normal, especially in a tournament of this level. Mia stated that, “everyone is warming up in two layers of pants, and winter jackets, gloves and hats.”
