Viral Rumours Spark Confusion Online

After social media was flooded with false claims of veteran actor Dharmendra's death, posts allegedly made by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and lyricist Javed Akhtar, as reported by The Indian Express, added to the confusion. The posts were deleted soon after the family debunked the disinformation. Dharmendra's daughter, Esha Deol, later confirmed that the Bollywood's He-Man is alive and recovering.

Dharmendra Under Treatment at Breach Candy Hospital

According to media reports, the 89-year-old actor is receiving treatment under the care of senior cardiologists at the hospital and has been placed on ventilator support as a precaution. He was admitted a few days ago following complaints of breathlessness.

Security has been tightened outside the hospital as the Bollywood veteran continues to undergo treatment.

Following the reports of his critical condition on November 10, Several Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Govinda, were seen visiting the hospital to check on the actor, according to multiple news reports.

Deol Family Addresses False Death Reports

Esha took to Instagram to address the disinformation, writing,

"The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for Papa's speedy recovery."

Dharmendra's wife, actor-politician Hema Malini, also condemned the false reports, calling them "unforgivable." She urged media outlets to act responsibly and respect the family's privacy as Dharmendra continues to receive medical care.

"How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering?", Hema wrote.

Family members, including Sunny and Bobby Deol, have been frequently visiting the hospital. Although the hospital officials have not issued any statement, his family has described him as "stable and under observation", according to their statement reported by Times of India.

Widely celebrated as Bollywood's original action hero, Dharmendra has captivated audiences for over six decades. Known for his magnetic presence, emotional depth, and effortless versatility, he became a household name through classics such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh.

Beyond his onscreen persona, the actor's humility and warmth have made him one of the most loved figures in Indian cinema. He recently appeared in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, following his memorable performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, co-starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Shabana Azmi.

His next appearance will be in Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda, slated for a Christmas 2025 release.
