The residents of Ghaziabad, particularly in Vasundhara, are living under growing fear as theft cases continue to rise, putting community safety at large at serious risk. Middle-class households and lower-income families remain the most vulnerable, with locked flats increasingly being targeted during late-night hours when occupants are away. Despite CCTV footage and FIRs being filed, swift action is missing, leaving culprits unidentified and communities exposed. A recent incident in Richmond Park, Vasundhara, has once again highlighted the urgent need for stronger preventive measures and effective policing. The increasing number of such cases reflects not only a law-and-order concern but also a threat to the sense of security of thousands of families. Residents urge the Uttar Pradesh government to intervene immediately with concrete steps to strengthen community safety and restore public confidence.

About The Incident

One of the recent incidents occurred on September 14, 2025, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. in Richmond Park, Vasundhara, when the residents of a flat were out of the city. Two thieves entered the high-rise building, moving freely through different floors in search of locked flats. CCTV footage shows them with their faces covered by white handkerchiefs, wearing turned caps and black boots. The cameras captured them scanning for locked flats, eventually breaking into one and stealing jewellery, cash, and other valuables. Additional footage near the generator room recorded their exit. Residents described the night as unusual and have raised concerns over a free movement of the thiefs in the gated society in the main center (Ref: FIR Crime No. 8643 under BNS Section 303 at Indirapuram Police Station). With similar incidents reported in nearby societies, residents have demanded a thorough interrogation of all night-shift staff and closer monitoring of building security systems. CCTV recordings indicate that the theft was well-planned and possibly carried out by trained criminals.

Police Investigation and Public Reaction

From “Gundaraj” to Good Governance under the leadership of Hon. CM Yogi Adityanath. When the BJP came to power in 2017, it did so on the promise to end what was then called the Samajwadi Party’s “Gundaraj”—a state plagued by crime and lawlessness. Hon. CM Yogi Adityanath wasted no time in sending a strong message. His government swiftly moved to seize the assets of known criminals, tighten law enforcement, and ensure that offenders either ended up behind bars or faced the consequences of their actions. The state has since witnessed a remarkable 85% drop in heinous crimes.

However, thefts are no less a threat to society. They instill deep fear in communities, particularly among the middle-class and lower-income households, who remain the most vulnerable. Such crimes risk the safety of residents as a whole and undermine the progress made in restoring law and order. Following the recent incident, residents voiced growing concern for their safety, stressing that thefts in Vasundhara are becoming increasingly frequent and alarming. Many reached out to neighboring societies in an attempt to identify the culprits, and CCTV footage from an adjacent building reportedly provided a clearer image of one suspect. Although an FIR has been lodged, residents remain anxious and unsafe as the investigation shows little visible progress. The rising number of thefts has left the city on edge, with many fearing that more homes could be targeted if urgent steps are not taken.

The people of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad now look to the Uttar Pradesh government for swift and decisive action. Strengthened local policing, enhanced night patrols, and prompt investigations are the immediate need of the hour.
