Fake currency notes were printed by three accused using colour printers in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The notes were circulated through small transactions at local shops, where convenience is higher and security checks are minimal. The police have arrested all three accused, and a video showing the procedure used to print the fake notes has now gone viral.

About the Fake Notes

The accused were found in possession of 12 counterfeit ₹500 notes and 15 half-printed ₹500 currency notes. These fake notes were circulated among local shopkeepers and vegetable vendors.

About the Investigation and Arrest

The matter came to light when a shopkeeper grew suspicious while a man was purchasing vegetables with a ₹500 note in Narora, Bulandshahr . The shopkeeper became suspicious after examining the texture and printing quality of the note. During the preliminary inquiry, it was found that similar suspicious notes had been circulated in several nearby rural shops. Following the complaint, Narora Police registered a case and initiated an investigation with the help of technical and local intelligence units.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested three accused on February 24 (last Tuesday) near the Irrigation Department Colony. The mobile phones of the accused are currently being analysed to trace their contacts and identify possible accomplices. As part of their plan, the accused intended to open a fake bank account at the State Bank of India to deposit the money. Sources mention that they were planning to take a property loan of Rs. 50 lakh and to repay it through those fake printed currency notes. The police has also cautioned the public to remain vigilant.
