Years of wait, struggle, and grief turned into the Tsunami of Happiness and Joy as the Indian women’s team won their first-ever World Cup Title on 2nd November 2025. India paved their way through all the hardships and defeated South Africa in the Finals by 52 Runs. This World Cup campaign of India and South Africa is truly a remarkable story on their own. After 24 Years Women’s Cricket World Cup got a new champion.

The Incredible Indian Team

After the famous win in the semi-finals against Australia, India came into the Finals with ample confidence and positive intent. Shafali Verma, a girl with Golden Fortune, came into the team as an injury replacement of Indian Opener Pratika Rawal and played a major innings of 87 (78). Just batting was not the end of her valuable contribution to the team because when she held the ball, she came and took 2 crucial wickets that gave India an Upper hand in the match and became Player of the Match in the Finals.

The Tale of Dependable Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma has always been a kind of player who has played the role of a disaster manager in the team, saving the batting collapses and putting up a fighting total. She scored 58(58) and clinched a 5-wicket haul in the night of the finals. Deepti’s consistent elite performance and her invaluable contribution made her worthy of becoming Player of the tournament scored 215 runs and took 22 wickets in the tournament.

Harmanpreet Completed the Incomplete

The Indian Women’s team have seen struggles that have always made it difficult for them to keep going and play with a free mind. The 2005 World Cup defeat and then an agonising World Cup final defeat in the 2017 World Cup were tough pills to swallow, but this team of Harmanpreet Kaur was different; they were there with an intent, the fire, the hunger to win the trophy at any cost. All of these made this Indian team unstoppable. This trophy was not just for the team playing on the ground, but it was the result of the struggles and hardship of every former women cricketer who walked so that this team today can run and win the historic trophy.

Forever Fighting Proteas

From getting all out on just 69 to stand there confidently in the finals South African team showed sheer resilience and power. Captain Laura Wolvaardt fought like a true warrior and gave her everything to win that trophy, scoring 101(98). Laura had a tremendous run in this World Cup; she scored 571 runs- The most ever in a single edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup. Marizanne Kapp had a dream run and played a very vital role in this team’s glory. She became the highest wicket taker, surpassing Jhulan Goswami, with 44 World Cup Wickets.

This win of India was not just another win; it is the fuel for women's cricket in India that the country always wanted and needed. This win was the outcome of all the efforts put in by former cricketers who fought every hard battle and took women’s cricket in India to this level. From now on, Women’s Cricket in India will never look back and hopefully will boom like Men’s cricket did.
