In our quest to find restaurants with the best food and aesthetic ambience for your Instagram posts, the One Air Media crew took it upon themselves to review restaurants and cafés all over Delhi, so you don’t have to!
Lord of the Drinks is a cozy bar/café in New Delhi, nestled in the heart of Connaught Place. From drinks to desserts, we’ve quite literally tasted it all, and oh boy… do we have a review!
Starters: Yay or Nay?
We kicked off with Lord of the Drinks' special Creamy Chaap and Paneer Tikka Masala, and it was a great start. The Chaap was bursting with flavors, offering a perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and crispiness. For Chaap enthusiasts, we highly recommend trying their Chaap platter. However, when it comes to the Paneer Tikka, there’s room for improvement. The flavoring wasn’t as vibrant and the quality of the paneer was not up to the mark. Something felt off about the tikka—it seemed like it hadn’t been marinated properly.

Main Course Magic
Have you ever watched Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani? If yes, then you might know the feeling when Bunny comes back to Naina’s house to confess his feelings and propose to her. The giddiness and happiness the audience feels during that scene is exactly how we felt when we had their Daal Makhni for the first time. The Daal Makhni was simply delectable. The Chicken Biryani is also one of the specials of the restaurant, and it lives up to the expectations. From the tenderness of the chicken to the nostalgic aroma of the rice, everything blended perfectly together to create a culinary masterpiece. Although, we must say that the vegetarian options are much better than the non-vegetarian ones on the menu.

Drinks to Savor
Lord of the Drinks is a café renowned for its vast and eclectic range of drink options, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We were truly overwhelmed by the sheer variety offered on their menu. Their Green Apple Chilli Slush is an exquisite blend of sweetness with a subtle hint of spice that perfectly hits the spot. The Passionfruit Iced Tea is also an exceptional non-alcoholic choice for those who appreciate tangy and refreshing beverages. Additionally, the café serves classic drink options such as beer, rum, whisky, vodka, and more, alongside a wide selection of tantalizing cocktails.

Ambience, Aesthetics, and Music
Let’s face it— Visiting a restaurant or café is no longer just about the food and drinks; in this age of social media, everything is expected to be “Instagram-worthy.” Lord of the Drinks is the ideal setting for capturing lofi, dark academia-inspired photos. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the restaurant’s lighting. While some areas offer perfect backdrops for photos, there are other spots where the lighting could be better to truly enhance the visual appeal. Unfortunately, we couldn’t experience the live music because of the live show of the ICC Champions Trophy Semi- finals, but the ambient music and their playlist were a vibe.
Overall Rating
Considering all aspects of the café, from the delectable food and drinks to the overall ambience and music, our team has concluded rating the café 3.5 out of 5 ⭐⭐⭐✰✰. While Lord of the Drinks undoubtedly excels in offering fantastic food, drinks, and a cozy, vintage-inspired atmosphere, there is still room for improvement in certain areas. Specifically, the lighting in some sections could be enhanced to better complement the charm of the more picturesque spots, ensuring a consistent, inviting ambience throughout the café.
