Aditya Dhar's spy thriller Dhurandhar has set a new benchmark for Hindi cinema, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time at the Indian box office. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film has crossed Rs 831 crore in net earnings; according to JioStudios' announcement on their social media, it has surpassed every previous Bollywood release in domestic earnings.

The landmark was achieved after the film earned Rs 5.70 crore net on Day 33, taking its total India net collection to 831.40 crore, as confirmed by the makers. The feat places Dhurandhar firmly at the top of the Hindi box office chart.

Pushpa 2 Record Broken as New Leader Emerges

Until now, the Hindi box office crown belonged to Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule, which has amassed Rs 830 crore net in its Hindi version. With Dhuranhar edging past that figure, the record has officially changed hands.

Other recent high-performing Hindi releases include Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which closed at Rs 643 crore, and the horror-comedy Stree 2, which collected Rs 627 crore, but neither came close to the new all-time mark.

Consistency Powers Dhurandhar's Box Office Run

Rather than relying only on an explosive opening, Dhurandhar sustained momentum across five weeks. The film collected Rs 218 crore in its opening week, followed by a stronger Rs 261.50 crore in week two. Even as the release entered later stages, collections remained solid, with Rs 189.30 crore in week three and Rs 115.70 crore in week four. The fifth weekend added another Rs 35.80 crore, supported by steady weekday footfalls.

This consistent performance has been a key factor behind the film emerging as Bollywood's biggest hit to date.

The achievement has drawn praise from across the film industry. Yash Raj Films (YRF) congratulated the team on social media, describing Dhurandhar as more than just a film and calling it a moment that will be remembered in Indian cinema history. The studio hailed the project as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in a single language.

Story, Setting, and Ensemble Cast

Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-stakes spy thriller rooted in real geopolitical tensions. The narrative draws from major events such as the Kandahar plane hijack, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, with much of the story unfolding in Lyari, Karachi.

Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features Akshaye Khanna, Sunjay Dutt. Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi. The project is produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios, in association with Jio Studios, led by Jyoti Deshpande.

A New Era for Big-Budget Hindi Cinema

With Dhurandhar resetting expectations, the film now stands as a defining example of how scale, subject matter, and sustained audience interest can drive box office success. Coming in the era shaped by films like Pushpa and RRR, its record-breaking run signals a new ceiling for Bollywood.
