For love you can live, for love you can die. A 15-year-old girl from Muzaffarpur and a 25-year-old man from Haldwani were in a relationship and had eloped from their home in December in the hope of creating a new world for themselves in Bulandshahr. They were living in a rented apartment and wanted to make the rest of their lives peaceful. On 25th September, at 3 a.m., scared and surrounded by police, they took their last breath. The boy shot his beloved and then killed himself.

About the Incident and Police Investigation

The boy was a farmer by occupation. The incident occurred in the morning at 3:00 AM. The girl’s family had informed Chappar Police Station in Uttar Pradesh that their girl was missing, and during the search, it was found that the rented apartment they had been living in since December was taken into account through the groom's paternal uncle. He knew where both the lovers were living and is reported to have guided the police. When the couple realized they were trapped by the police, they were hiding on the rooftop. Finding no solution to escape, the boy shot the gun, killing his beloved, and then fired at himself. The police, who were waiting outside and calling them, suddenly heard the shot from the rooftop. On entering, they found the bodies dead. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, with forensic reports confirming murder and suicide. The girl was shot in the head, while the man turned the gun on himself. Investigations remain ongoing as police officials continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the case.

Law and Justice: Key Suspicions Under Review

Families in the region continue to place religion above personal relationships, with elopement often emerging as the only option for young couples. Family honor, often tied to religion, continues to play a decisive role in such incidents, sometimes prompting families to act against their own children. The case also comes in the context of recent legal amendments that recognize teenage relationships and permit consensual sexual activity among adolescents.

Investigations into the case are still ongoing, and preliminary findings suggest that the boy’s paternal uncle may have been in contact with the police after reportedly offering a safe house. While the girl’s family had sought police assistance in locating their daughter, who was later found dead, it remains uncertain whether the matter will proceed to court. Following the girl’s death, investigators stress the importance of examining the man’s behavior and the dynamics of the couple’s relationship after elopement. This scrutiny, they say, is necessary to determine motive and intent, and to establish whether the crime was an act of coercion or one carried out under circumstances leaving no alternative. The gun also remains a vital source of evidence, and how it was obtained is an important question that may reveal past histories or criminal records of the couple, if any exist. Authorities are also assessing whether the local community supported the couple’s relationship and how residents perceived their time together over the past two months. It remains to be seen whether the police will treat the matter solely as a missing persons case or acknowledge the couple’s relationship in its own right.
