The Javelin star of India, Neeraj Chopra, adds another medal to his glittering tally at the Zurich Diamond League 2025. German star Julian Weber clinched Gold by crossing the 90m barrier at the Letzigrund Stadium.
Julian Weber delivered a performance of his life, scoring a humongous 91.51m, and made a statement to the world that he belongs to the elite club of throwers with 90m+ throws. Neeraj seemed to be struggling, but eventually registered 85.01m on his last attempt to bag that shining silver medal.
Dominance of the German Star Weber
Julian Weber left every single person in the stadium, including his competitors, in awe of his masterclass on the night of his glory. Every player desires to throw 90m+, and Julian was all in to drop a stellar performance. In his first throw, he registered 91.37, and if that was not enough, he made it better by scoring his personal best in the second throw, scoring 91.51m.

Weber himself was surprised by his performance; he said, “I knew I was in good shape, but I would not have thought that I would perform so well today, and already on my first throw.” He also gave his fans a reason to be happy by saying that these throws would be on YouTube for fans to view and enjoy.
A Performance Good Enough to Save The Streak
Neeraj Chopra has been the star of Indian sports ever since he bagged that Gold in Tokyo 2020, and since then, he has been on a winning streak. Neeraj looked a bit out of rhythm in his first two throws, scoring low 80s. In his last throw, he managed to get 85.01 to just edge past Walcott Keshorn of Trinidad and Tobago to clinch the silver medal in the Zurich Diamond League 2025.

Neeraj was, in a way, happy with his performance, saying, “This was not too bad.” Chopra also mentioned the upcoming World Championship and his intent going into that. “I still need to throw a little further. There are a few things that went well, but still, there were things which did not go well.” Said the Indian Star.
A Rivalry to Watch Out For
Heading into the World Athletics Championship Tokyo 2025, the Golden Boy of India has consistently delivered on the big stages since the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and on the other hand, Julian Weber is also closing the gap by performing well in his recent tournaments. The World Athletics Championship will provide a stage to one of the most anticipated rivalries in the world of javelin throw.
