Athena1: SiPearl's Highly Effecient Processor Presented at CES 2026

Alongside SiPearl's first-generation Rhea1 processor, Athena1 is based on the Arm Neoverse V1 architecture, but it has been tuned to satisfy a specific set of efficiency and performance standards. To meet a range of application requirements, the Athena1 family will be offered in different SKUs with Arm Neoverse V1 core combinations of 16, 32, 48, 64, or 80. Targeting a thermal design power (TDP) of 50W or more, the Athena1 is a redesigned and "lighter" version of the Rhea1 HPC chip that does away with high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and has a smaller package size, which drastically reduces cost and power consumption.

Athena1 is a standalone, "dual-use" processor designed for government, defense, and aerospace applications, whereas SiPearl was first concentrated on high-performance computing (HPC) systems. Athena1 is slated for commercialization by 2027 and is intended to supplement SiPearl's Rhea1 processor by utilizing the company's HPC capabilities.

CES, see you in 2027! 🙏 Thanks also to #EUeic (Stéphane Ouaki 🇺🇦🇪🇺, François Brizard, Ekke Van Vliet, Nassima Ferahtia, Virginia D’Orazio, Sara Lanzilotta, Jo Dalm, Melinda Wong, Alesia Salvatierra, Giulia Faganello) for inviting and taking care of #SiPearl at #CES2026 and to Thomas Delacollette for the great pictures! SiPearl is the European fabless designer of sovereign high-performance energy-efficient processors for #HPC, #AI, data centres and dual-use. These processors will help address strategic challenges in the fields of security, defence, medical research, energy, climate and engineering with a reduced environmental footprint. A few months ago, SiPearl completed the design of the most complex processor ever designed in Europe, #Rhea1. Featuring 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores, with 61 billion transistors, it is currently in production at TSMC and will be available for sampling in early 2026. Sipearl processors will equip both European exascale supercomputers owned by EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), Rhea1 will be integrated into the #JUPITER machine based in Germany and #Rhea2 will be part of #AliceRecoque which will be located in France. Incubated within the European Processor Initiative consortium and seed-funded by the European Union, SiPearl employs 200 people in France, Spain, and Italy. Following a €130 million Series A, the company is launching its Series B round.
