The production of Road (Working Title), an international crime series that portrays murders across borders, has been confirmed by Netflix. Director Han-Juan Hee promises suspense and thrilling mysteries. Not only cinema but comic fans too rejoice at its coming, as the release date is yet to be officially announced. Sources claim that shooting was initially scheduled to begin in June 2025 and has now been officially announced. Netflix has disclosed the intentions of the director and members of the production team, which has heightened public curiosity. The excitement for the series lies in the cryptic clues and the gradual unveiling of mysteries.
Significance of the Plot
The series is based on the webcomic “Blue Road”, which is set around the bizarre murders of Korea and Japan. Detective Inosa investigates the case and draws parallels with a similar murder case in Yokohama. Detective Kang Cheong-do finds similar instances in Japan, and together they search for the criminal. Similarly, the thriller series, according to the director, is an attempt to show two rigorous, hardworking detectives who stop at nothing in their mission to get hold of the killer.
About the Director and the Cast
Han Jun-hee is a South Korean film director and screenwriter who is known for his famous cinematic works including Tastefully Yours, Pilot, The Gifted Hands, and was a jury member at the Busan International Film Festival in 2023. Han Jun-hee notes “Road” as “a transnational detective story that follows two cops as they stop at nothing to catch the killer.” The cast includes renowned actors from Japan and Korea. Son Suk-ku, actor of RoundUp, Night Fishing, and many more, recently earned Rank 1 in the Drama Actor Brand Reputation Rankings in May 2025. He is the leading actor (a detective from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Mobile Investigation Unit) in the series, accompanied by Eita Nagayama, known for his works The Best Divorce, Last Friends, Don’t Call It Mystery, and Monster, who is portrayed as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division. Kim Shin-Rock, portrayed as a leading businessman, Choi Sung-Eun, who is assigned the case by the government but works differently than others, and Jung Jae-Yung, playing the role of an unidentified figure, are other actors participating in the series.
