Ajay Devgn Gets Record Opening Day for Drishyam 3: The movie was released on October 2 and made a remarkable record as one of Ajay Devgn's highest opening films. It has been reported by businessman and film analyst Sacnilk that the film has already earned a net collection of around Rs 67 crore and now it is considered one of the best opening films of Ajay Devgn. With almost 15,800 screenings in India, the overall collection is close to Rs. 80 crore. The film has generated around Rs 15 crore from foreign countries and bringing the total to Rs 95 crore which is still below the magical Rs 100 crore mark.

Beating Other Installments of the Franchise

It outclasses the figures of the earlier installments in the franchise on their respective first days of release. The original Drishyam opened at under Rs 6 crore in 2015 before going on to earn around Rs 110 crore worldwide over its full run, while Drishyam 2 opened at roughly Rs 15 crore in 2022 and finished near Rs 342 crore lifetime. Drishyam 3 has essentially quadrupled its predecessor's opening in a single day. It also pushes past Devgn's previous best openers, including Singham Again, Singham Returns and Golmaal Again, and edges out Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan on the Hindi-version opening-day count, though it still trails Dhurandhar 2's roughly Rs 205 crore debut earlier this year.

Drishyam 3 Box Office Collection: Critics Point to Jaideep Ahlawat as the Standout

Reviews for the film, directed by Abhishek Pathak, have mostly landed on the positive side. NDTV gave it three stars, praising a tight script even as the back half loses some momentum, and singled out Jaideep Ahlawat's turn as a police superintendent as the film's biggest asset, calling his scenes with Devgn the sharpest thing in any Drishyam instalment so far, including the Malayalam originals.

The Hindu credited Pathak with steering the franchise away from its Malayalam roots entirely, building something that feels more at home in the Hindi heartland while keeping the series' core idea intact: that a story doesn't need to be true, only believable. Audience reactions on social media have largely echoed that sentiment, with several fans saying they preferred this version's changed ending to Mohanlal's Malayalam instalment released earlier this year.

Where the Weekend Could Land

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh projected the film could cross Rs 190 crore by the end of its opening weekend, and early second-day numbers suggest it is tracking in that direction, with roughly Rs 6 crore added by noon on Saturday alone. Filmmaker Karan Johar publicly congratulated the cast and crew on social media, while the film's billing as the franchise's final chapter appears to be pulling in even casual viewers curious to see how the Salgaonkar family's story wraps up after more than a decade on screen.
