The Men in Blue scripted history again, clinching the Asian Games gold medal. The gold medal has come after their earlier victory at the 2023 Games in Hangzhou. The Indian cricket team, led by Shreyas Iyer defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the final at Aichi Prefectural Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. While India bagged gold, Pakistan secured silver, and Sri Lanka claimed the bronze medal after defeating Bangladesh in the third place playoff.

The Asian Games final was held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. The Men in Blue demonstrated an exceptional performance from both sides after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Opener Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 runs off 28 balls including 3 fours and 7 sixes giving India an early start. Tilak Varma further added an unbeaten 51 runs off 22 balls following contributions alongside Shivam Dube's late quickfire to post a total of 211/6 in 20 overs.

Although Hasan Nawaz made a strong comeback for Pakistan, hitting 96 runs off 51 balls (featuring 5 fours and 7 sixes), Shivam Dube took his wicket off the very last ball of the match to break the final partnership. Axar Patel (2/29), Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube took key wickets as Pakistan were restricted to 192/6 and could not sustain their chase. Defending the target with tactical brilliance on a turning pitch, India sealed a memorable 19-run victory to clinch the continental crown.

India wins Asian Games Gold Medal
This is India’s second successive gold medal in cricket at the Asian Games, joining the women’s side, who also successfully defended their gold medal from the previous Asiad in Hangzhou in 2023. The victory provided a major boost to India's medal tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, marking India's 19th gold medal of the multi-sport event and bringing their total tally to 81 medals.
