India’s pace attack has received a timely boost ahead of the New Zealand tour. Fast bowler Auqib Nabi has been added to the India squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, extending his inclusion beyond the fourth and fifth matches he was already picked for. The decision follows the exit of Prasidh Krishna, who was ruled out of the series just a day earlier to focus on recovering from a left hamstring injury.

Auqib Nabi added to The Indian ODI Squad
Auqib Nabi is a right-arm fast bowler who made his India debut in the second ODI against West Indies at Guwahati in September 2026. The outing was a tough one, as he returned figures of 0 for 84 in ten overs. Even so, selectors have shown faith in him, and he is now part of India’s ODI squad for the entire New Zealand series.
Nabi is already in New Zealand with the India A red-ball squad, where he took six wickets in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A. That familiarity with local conditions, including the pace, bounce and swing, gives him an edge over bowlers who would have to fly in. Prasidh Krishna, who pulled up with a hamstring injury in the same match in which Nabi debuted, is expected to join the India A squad for the third unofficial Test to build match fitness before the two-Test series.

India’s squad for the first three ODIs is led by Shubman Gill, with Shreyas Iyer as vice-captain. Younger options include Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. Nitish Kumar Reddy is available only for the first ODI.
The squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs is slightly different, with Shreyas Iyer named captain and Ishan Kishan vice-captain. Tilak Varma, Kumar Kushagra and Yash Thakur also come into the mix. The ODI series runs from November 4 to November 15, followed by the two-Test series starting November 19.
For cricket followers, Nabi’s inclusion is one to watch. A strong showing could cement his place in India’s pace rotation heading into a busy international season.
