About the Pune Murder Case
The incident occurred on June 18, 2026, when Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly pushed Ketan Agarwal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune. According to the investigation, they had allegedly made several earlier attempts to kill him. Ketan and Siya had got engaged in February this year.
While sources claim it was a forced marriage, Siya's parents, during a conversation with CNBC-TV 18, denied any such allegations. They said the loss was irreparable and demanded the death penalty for the accused. However, authorities have not yet clarified their involvement in the case.
Investigators further revealed that the accused allegedly planned the conspiracy eight months ago. The two allegedly began a relationship after meeting at a Diwali dinner party last year. The Pune Rural Police reportedly recovered more than 2,000 call records and 238 conversations including deleted chats. Ketan's fiancée allegedly persuaded him to visit the fort. She also allegedly misplaced his passport to delay their planned pre-wedding shoot in Bali.
The accused allegedly tried to kill Ketan at the fort on June 14. However, he survived by grabbing onto a bush. She had earlier claimed that she saved him from a snake. On June 18, her alleged lover reportedly arrived at the scene wearing a hoodie. He allegedly pushed Ketan off the cliff. As the investigation continues, the police have arrested both accused.
Further Investigations: Police Seeks Permission for Gait Analysis and Polygraph Tests
Although no eyewitness witnessed the incident, the police stated that they would conduct a gait analysis to examine the walking style, posture, stride length, hand movements, head tilt, weight distribution, and other identifying characteristics of one of the accused, who allegedly covered himself with a hoodie.
The police also sought permission to conduct polygraph tests, which record physiological responses such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration while a person answers questions. The court has approved both tests, and investigators consider them a crucial part of the investigation.
