The incident occurred on October 20, 2026 when two black-and-white A4-sized sheets were discovered pasted onto a passenger seat. The FIR has been filed against unidentified persons, with no suspects named so far, and officers have seized both posters as primary evidence as the Special Cell joins the investigation amidst wide attention across the capital.
Delhi Metro Posters FIR: What Happened on the Airport Express Line
The matter came to light when Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) train operator Tarun Chaudhary finished running a train from New Delhi station to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 station between 6:50 PM and 7:15 PM. While conducting an inspection from inside the cabin, Chaudhary spotted the posters, removed them and notified senior officials and the Operations Control Centre (OCC). Following instructions, he handed the material over to the station controller at Dwarka Sector 21, who subsequently alerted the police.
The A4-sized black-and-white posters carried phrases such as "You Can Change Your Own Life", "Voting Protest", "Spectrum of Engagement", "Community Building Reform" and "Dissatisfied? You Are Not Alone". According to NDTV, nine claims have been mentioned in the posters about the recent changes in the country.

Police said the accused were operating a sophisticated module, with mobile phones used in the crimes kept at least five kilometres away from their location to prevent the police from tracking them.

Delhi Police Investigation: Laws Invoked and Expert Reaction
The case has been registered under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 2007, and the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002 both of which protect public property and transit infrastructure from misuse. Former Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) LN Rao remarked that the involvement of the Special Cell indicates the gravity of the incident adding that a comprehensive probe must establish whether a broader conspiracy similar to Section 120B of the former Indian Penal Code was involved to identify the executors, their handlers, and their ultimate motive.
While police have not confirmed any official conspiracy charges, legal experts and officials continue to monitor the case closely as further updates emerge.
