For some time now, "___ before GTA 6" has been the internet's go-to punchline for anything so unexpected that it happened before Rockstar Games finally released its long-awaited title. But the cultural shorthand has now taken a darker turn with the anonymous 'Cyberleek' leaking gameplay footage and even threatening to release the playable build ahead of the official release on November 19th, 2026.
Cyberleek's Gameplay Snippets
The pseudonymous figure known as Cyberleek has been consistently leaking short gameplay clips and purported development footage from GTA VI, with the latest videos showing a considerable amount of alleged content. Moreover, the videos also contain nudity, though blurred, which has exacerbated public concern. However, Mashable claims that this might not be an in-game feature but a mod-enabled action.
Cyberleek, however, seems to presume this leak as a statement against the gaming industry's profiteering tendencies. On the website seemingly associated with them, they have three commandments in their 'Edict,' as follows:
- Thou Shalt Not Sell Digital Preorders (i.e., publishers should not 'sell' games digitally before independent reviews)
- Thou Shalt Not Sell Fake Single-Player DLC (i.e., Publishers shouldn't charge extra to unlock single-player content already included in the base game files)
- Thou Shalt Preserve Single-Player Content (i.e., game publishers should provide offline access to single-player content; when server support ends, the games should be ensured playable indefinitely through a final patch)
Above all, Cyberleek claims to continue the leaks to the end of a "public statement and apology with a concrete commitment to fix the harm they caused." The more concerning matter now is that Cyberleek is reportedly collecting funds through a cryptocurrency-funded poll using the Solana blockchain's native cryptocurrency, SOL, for a "secret project."
Spoiler Culture & Monetisation of Leaked Material
Spoiler culture has changed considerably in the age of social media, where the spread of leaked material is much more rapid and less controlled, and effectively unending through reposting. Cyberleek, in fact, uses audience interest to determine which footage is released next, and it is quite telling about audience sensibilities. Female nudity (of the female deuteragonist, Lucia Caminos), in this case, has been a recurrent theme across most leaks and the resultant discussions around it, to the point that most reportage is also concerned with that.

The winning choice from the Cyberleek polls determines what content they will publish next, within 24 hours of the poll closing. From the current poll, it appears that Lucia was sent to a barbershop.
Cyberleek had published a "Milestone Roadmap" on their website:
"5M: Mini Tank | 7M: Jumbo jet | 9M: Tank | 11M: Private lap dance | 13M: Police Shootout | 17M: Beach Massacre | 21M: Fighter Jet | 25M: Train vs Train | 30M Full 200+GB playable build."
Thus, if people bought tokens of Cyberleek's memecoin, then its market cap would increase—ideally, 30 million in this case—but not having succeeded, on October 13th, 2026, they released "Development Build v1.0.1.08022025," locked behind a $40 paywall.
Legal Response
Rockstar Games's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has already subpoenaed Microsoft, Discord, X, and Google to track the hacker(s), says the Los Angeles Times.
But this recent leak controversy is far from the first plaguing GTA VI. The BBC reported that Arion Kurtaj, a member of the Lapsus$ gang, hacked into Rockstar in 2023 using limited tools and stole 90 clips of the game, presumably from its earlier developmental stage. Rockstar Games reported a $5 million recovery cost, but has yet to comment on any monetary losses in the Cyberleek case.
The Fan Verdict
While the initial reaction about the cryptocurrency crash—a significant one, actually—had fans celebrating it with people saying something along the lines of:
“Whoever is dropping money on this deserves to lose their money lol. You are begging to get scammed”

However, there is also a fair share of people expressing interest or even enthusiasm for the leaks, sometimes equally incensed by the gaming industry's consumerism, echoing Cyberleek's sentiments.
It should be impressed upon all readers that any illegal content of GTA VI, presented on what can only be called a shady website, can not be entirely safe for gamers, and they should exercise caution when exploring such avenues.
