Netflix has unveiled two new posters for RAFA, the upcoming documentary series centered on tennis icon Rafael Nadal, weeks before its scheduled premiere on May 29. The newly released visuals shift focus towards the emotional and physical demands of Nadal's final chapter in professional Tennis, highlighting the endurance and legacy associated with the 22-time Grand Slam champion.

The streaming platform shared the posters on April 29, continuing promotional activity for the Sports Documentary after its teaser debuted earlier this month. One of the posters presents a minimalist image of Nadal lying on the clay court following what appears to be an exhausting match, accompanied by the tagline, "A life beyond limits." Another poster features a close-up side profile of the retired Spaniard player, emphasizing fatigue, determination, and resilience.

Sharing the second visual, Netflix quoted Nadal, writing: To reach the top, you have to go near the limit."

The platform also confirmed that RAFA will premiere globally on May 29.

Rafael Nadal Documentary explores the final chapter of the tennis legend

Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Zachary Heinzerling, RAFA is a four-part Netflix docu-series that follows Nadal through the final phase of his professional career in 2024. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series will document the athlete's struggles with injuries, his transition into fatherhood, and the decision to step away from competitive Tennis.

The documentary is also expected to feature the never-before-seen archival footage alongside interviews with several major figures connected to Nadal's career, including Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and John McEnroe.

Nadal retired in November 2024 after one of the most decorated careers in modern Tennis. Widely regarded as one of the greatest clay-court players in the sport's history, Rafa Nadal won 14 French Open titles and finished with a remarkable 112 - 4 record at Roland Garros.

'A Life Beyond Limits' tagline sets the tone for RAFA

The newly released posters appear to reinforce the introspective tone Netflix is building around the series. Rather than focusing solely on Nadal's victories, the campaign leans into the physical toll, emotional pressure, and longevity that shaped the Spaniard's career.

The phrase "A Life Beyond Limits" has become central to the documentary's marketing, positioning the project as a closer look at the personal sacrifices behind the elite-level competition. The visual style of posters also departs from conventional celebratory Sports Documentary campaigns, instead emphasizing isolation, exhaustion, and recovery.

The release comes during the buildup to the French Open season, a period closely associated with Rafael Nadal's dominance on clay courts over nearly two decades.

Netflix's RAFA reportedly headed for Primetime Emmy

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix plans to campaign RAFA for the Primetime Emmys instead of the Sports Emmys. The streaming platform is reportedly targeting categories including Best Documentary Series, Directing, Editing, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, and Original Score.

Reports have also noted that more than half of the series is in Spanish, potentially making RAFA the first primarily non-English language project to secure a nomination in the Best Documentary Series category.

The series is produced by Skydance Sports, which has previously backed sports-focused projects and documentaries across multiple platforms.

With the new posters now released ahead of launch, Netflix appears to be positioning RAFA not only as a retrospective on Rafael Nadal's career but also as a prestige documentary entry within the broader streaming and awards landscape.
