Vietnam Airlines: Four tyres burst, Tail strikes runway
According to Vietnamese state media, A preliminary inspection found that four out of eight main landing-gear tyres of the aircraft burst- three on the left side and one on the right. Inspectors also discovered long scrape marks beneath the rear fuselage, along with damage to several sections of the aircraft’s outer skin, suggesting the tail struck the runway during takeoff. No signs of fire or smoke were found.
A total of 271 passengers and 16 crew members were safe, with no injuries reported. Boeing 787-9, registered as VN-A867, remains grounded at Munich Airport as engineers carry out further technical checks.
This incident also affected airport operations, as after landing it was unable to move away from the north runway under its own power, which led to a temporary closure of the runway and forced flights to use the south runway.
