BRICS Summit 2026 Update: On Friday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that stronger economic cooperation and greater economic security among BRICS nations would help to enhance self-reliance. He also emphasised the importance of expanding business partnerships, diversifying trade relations among nations and developing supply chains that can withstand disruptions.
While speaking at the BRICS Business Forum, Jaishankar said the key aim was to create better opportunities for companies from member countries to identify business partners, enter new markets, and strengthen connections across the supply chain.

Jaishankar also emphasised that increased economic engagement and strong economic security could play a significant role in shaping BRICS nations to achieve greater self-reliance. According to him, the focus should be on improving the ability of economies to deal with unexpected disruptions while staying globally connected and competitive.
He noted that achieving these goals would require fair and efficient market practices, dependable logistics and a stable, predictable business environment. He also stressed the need for wider trade partnerships and greater transparency in investment. Further highlighted the key importance of building energy systems that can withstand disruptions and developing good strategies that can take into account different economic and national conditions of member nations.
BRICS latest news: Delhi decked up ahead of High-Profile gathering
Central Delhi has achieved a major facelift as the national capital, all set to host the BRICS Summit 2026 on Friday and Saturday.
The city has been brightened with decorations, colourful floral arrangements, landscaped roads and BRICS-themed displays at multiple prominent locations. Officials said lighting installations have been put up at key spots such as Patel Chowk, Windsor Place, Mandi House, Teen Murti, Lok Kalyan Metro Station and the PMO roundabout.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has also added LED displays featuring the BRICS Summit logo, while themed posters have been placed on street-light poles along major routes across the city.
