A recent militant attack has been suspected from areas dominated by Kuki-Zo groups, which has led to a bomb attack in Bishnupur's Moirang Tronglaobi village of Manipur. Two minors have been killed in the bomb attack, while fear has gripped the neighbouring village.
About the Village Bomb Blast
The bomb blast occurred on 7 April at 1 am in Moirang Tronglaobi village, Manipur. Both the children and their mother were asleep when the bomb detoriated. The unexpected tragedy took the lives of a 5-month-old infant daughter and a 5-year-old son. The mother is reported to be critically injured. The incident has caused severe damage to the village.
Sources confirm that Moirang Tronglaobi village is located near a sensitive hill. The house belonged to a Border Security Force officer. The bomb blast has left the people of Bishnupur’s neighboring villages in fear.

What do Officials State on The Manipur Bomb Blast?
Security forces were deployed with immediate effect in neighbouring villages and other sensitive areas as well. The investigation has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). While some areas of Manipur have been experiencing curfew, reports confirm that no internet facility was available for three consecutive days. As a precautionary measure schools have been closed. The Manipur Chief Minister, expressing grief, has promised strict action against those involved in this barbaric act. CM Y. Khemchand Singh further announced a 2 minute silence to pay respects to the children. He stated:
“This barbaric act is an assault on humanity and a deliberate attempt to disrupt Manipur’s hard-earned peace. Those responsible will be identified and dealt with strictly as per law. Such acts of terror will not be tolerated."
Manipur People Fear, Bomb Blast Followed Protests
The bomb blast tragedy has led to fear among the people of Manipur. Two oil tankers were torched, while tyres were burnt outside the Moirang Police Station. Many people have also come together, protesting against the damage caused to the village and demanding strict action against those responsible.

The Incident That Precedes Increased Public Fear
The incident was followed by a seven-year-old girl being found dead, who had been reported missing from the Akhampat relief camp in Manipur. The girl was displaced from the camp after the violence that occurred in May 2023. The forensic reports confirmed that the girl had been assaulted before being killed. One suspect has also been arrested, but the two incidents have led to fear among the locals, especially villagers residing near the sensitive belts.
