Fire Broke Out in Noida's Mamura Village, Leaving 2 Dead

Fire broke out in a four-storey building while an electric vehicle was charging in Mamura village, Noida Sector 66. The incident took place on Wednesday. Fifty families were evacuated. However, two people died during the incident. Further investigations are currently ongoing.

About the Incident

The incident occurred on the ground floor of the building. Each floor housed five families living in two room flats. Smoke had quickly engulfed the entire building, which had a G+4 structure. The fire was ignited by an electric bike. The blaze in Lane 2 then spread in all directions to nearby vehicles and houses. Firefighters took immediate action, evacuating the building as well as the surrounding areas.

Seven fire tenders, rescue vehicles, and hydraulic platforms were used to conduct the rescue and firefighting operations. More than 50 families were evacuated, but two people (a man and a woman) were declared dead due to health complications aggravated by smoke inhalation, despite being immediately taken by ambulance to the district hospital.

About the Investigations

An FIR has been registered under the relevant provisions of the law, and detailed investigations will continue. Officers will keep a close check on whether safety precautions were in place in the building or if any lapses occurred. The owner of the building has been taken into custody.

What Do the Residents Have to Say?

Meanwhile, locals have raised concerns about swinging wires, cramped houses, and overpopulation. They told NDTV that the area was congested, and even a car could not make a turn, leaving drivers helpless. Furthermore, locals complained that they had raised these issues with the concerned authorities several times, but nobody had approached them to fix the problems.

What Do the Officials State?

According to NDTV, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to take immediate action. He instructed the administration to keep a close watch on the rescue and relief efforts, maintain surveillance at all levels, and ensure that the injured receive appropriate medical care. The Chief Minister also instructed officials to assist those affected by the tragedy as soon as possible.
